Considering what had transpired last year at the same stage, a thrilling final between Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz was expected. In Wimbledon 2023, the Spaniard had to dig deep to get the victory over Novak Djokovic, but precisely 365 days later at Wimbledon 2024, Alcaraz registered a routine win in straight sets over the 24-time Grand Slam champion. Alcaraz emerged victorious with the score line of 6-2, 6-2, 7-6.
Following the culmination of the match, Novak Djokovic reflected on the performance and admitted that he was "outplayed" on the day by Carlos Alcaraz. Djokovic highlighted that Alcaraz brought out his best service game and was equally good while returning. Djokovic concluded by presenting the bottom line, which was that Alcaraz was better than him in every department.
"The way I felt on the court today against him, I was inferior on the court. He was a better player. That’s it. He played every single shot better than I did. I don’t think I could’ve done much more… he wasn’t allowing me to have free points on my serve. He played with a lot of variety. I’ve never seen him serve that way. I’ve never seen him serve that fast. He must’ve had a really good serving practice day yesterday. He really outplayed me… he was better than me in every aspect of the game.” Via Wimbledon Press.

It is safe to say that the Tennis fraternity is witnessing the dawn of Carlos Alcaraz's era. The consistency the Spaniard has showcased in the last few years is reminiscent of the one that was once held by Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. Novak Djokovic is his greatest opponent and nobody comes close. As he is already walking among the giants, the win at the Wimbledon 2024 final has brought him under the same roof with Federer Nadal, Djokovic, Bjorn Borg and Rod Laver.
Alcaraz is the sixth professional Tennis player to emerge victorious at the All-England Club immediately after winning the French Open. As Alcaraz won the French Open 2024, and now attained glory at Wimbledon as well, he has made it to the list of eminent men.
