‘I Was Keeping Everything Open’: Novak Djokovic Reveals He Nearly Passed up on the 2024 Wimbledon
After defeating Lorenzo Musetti to go to the men's singles final, Novak Djokovic reveals that his status for Wimbledon 2024 was in jeopardy.
Novak Djokovic has been wreaking havoc in the prestigious Wimbledon tournament as he was like a dragon and breathed fire while wrecking his opponents in the game and edging past them to reach the final. The Serbian tennis ace has had a spectacular run as he sets up a re-match of the previous edition's final in Men's singles as he will face defending Champion Carlos Alcaraz at the All-England Club in London. Not too long ago, the star player was doubtful of the tournament as he came off a knee surgery. Even the Serb thought that he may have to pass the prestigious tennis competition.

Novak Djokovic Reveals His Wimbledon 2024 Status Was Hanging in the Balance After Reaching Men’s Singles Final
Novak Djokovic was able to race past Lorenzo Musetti in the semifinal of the Men's Singles match at Wimbledon. The Serb won straight sets to reach the final and he will face Carlos Alcaraz in a rematch of last year's final. Djokovic will be aiming for the big gold as he missed out last year as he fell to Alcaraz. But before the tournament began, Novak wasn't sure whether he would compete this year in London.
"I came to London eight days before the tournament started. I didn't know (if I would play). I was keeping everything open until the day of the draw. I played a couple of practice sets with top players, and that proved to me I was in a good enough state to not just be in Wimbledon but to go deep into the tournament.
"That kind of mentality is there and is ever-present. Thanks to the team members for helping me," Djokovic said.

Novak Djokovic’s clay court run at the French Open was cut short by a torn meniscus in his right knee, forcing him to withdraw from his quarterfinal match against Casper Ruud. The Serbian celebrity underwent successful knee surgery in early June 2024 and was seen walking with two walking sticks. In less than a month, the great player was spotted training at the All-England Club, and he has since been performing at full capacity following his showcase, which helped him reach the final.
