Redmi A4 5G unveiled at IMC 2024, will cost under Rs 10,000
Xiaomi's Redmi is coming up with a 5G phone for under Rs 10,000 soon.
Redmi has unveiled the A4 5G, its latest low-cost smartphone, which the company says will “redefine the entry-level smartphone experience in India by delivering enhanced 5G connectivity to millions.” The new Redmi A4 5G uses the Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 platform, which marks its debut in India at Qualcomm’s special India event in July. The Redmi A4 5G will be the company’s new smartphone to offer 5G connectivity under Rs 10,000.
“Designed exclusively for the Indian market, it embodies our vision of ‘5G for Everyone’, bridging the digital divide,” said Muralikrishnan B, President at Xiaomi India. “With this device, we aim to accelerate India’s shift to 5G, delivering an enhanced entry-level smartphone experience.”
Muralikrishnan added that the new Redmi A4 5G will be part of the company’s vision to sell 70 crore 5G-enabled devices in the next decade,” continuing to redefine connectivity for all.”
Redmi’s parent Xiaomi has partnered with Qualcomm for the exclusive launch. The Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 chip brings “a host of powerful features to the table,” enhanced CPU performance, optimised entertainment experiences, and AI-driven audio. Although the company did not reveal the specifics, such as the display panel and size or the speaker features. The smartphone was showcased at Xiaomi’s booth at the annual conference. It has a four-cutout camera island in a round shape on the back, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a waterdrop-style notch on the display. Since the device was not turned on, it is unclear whether the smartphone uses regular Android or its Go edition.
“The Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 was designed with a vision to enable consumers to enjoy the benefits of 5G connectivity,” said Savi Soin, senior vice president and president of Qualcomm India.
The new Qualcomm chip uses a 4nm processing node, similar to the one on the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2, featuring support for up to 90fps on full-HD+ displays, dual 12-bit ISP cameras, Gigabit 5G model, and dual-frequency GNSS (L1 + L5), including India’s NavIC.
