With the 2019 Indian General Elections fast approaching, it only becomes natural for registered voters to look up and try to find if their names are on the electoral roles of their respective constituencies. In this regard, in case you have forgotten, 1950 is the toll-free voter helpline you could use to obtain all voting related information.

These details include the likes of the polling booth, name in the electoral list, booth officers, election officers, and more. Here, note that this is an official service from the Election Commission of India (ECI).

If you do not have time for a voice call, then do try sending a text message to 1950 with the format ECIPS , ECICONTACT (EPIC Number>.

“It is also clarified that all these services can be obtained directly or by approaching the concerned officials appointed by the Election Commission of India.  ECI has not authorized any intermediaries to provide these services,” stated ECI in an official press release.

“Since mere possession of EPIC Card is not enough for the electors but their names should also be there in the electoral roll for enabling them to cast their vote on the poll day, it is necessary that the citizens/electors should check that their names figure in the electoral rolls,” added the election body.

The 1950 voter helpline by the ECI should be useful for people not preferring to depend on applications from third-parties. Once you dial the toll-free number, you would have to follow an interactive IVRS system prior to the operator (human) connecting with you to answer your queries.
