Amazon India would soon deliver your items in environment-friendly packaging material, without environmentally-dangerous plastic. These bio-friendly packaging materials would be put into practice by Amazon, In its packages, by June 2020. These proposed moves are a result of the Indian government’s resolve to weed out plastic completely – and to encourage use of bio-degradable and environmentally friendly packaging products so as to save the planet Earth. At this point in time, it is worth remembering that even the corporate houses have a social responsibility, in fact, more than normal citizens.

Amazon India's eco-focus

Now, as per a Reuters report, Amazon’s bio-friendly packaging material would be totally recyclable. Amazon India also stated to Reuters that it would try to eliminate hazardous plastic with the above “recyclable” materials used to pack orders to be delivered to its customers. Since packaging materials are discarded by customers most of the time, seldom knowing how to dispose of, replacement of the entire packaging material itself makes sense theoretically. For practicalities, in this regard, we would have to wait at least till June 2020.

Plastic ban

Amazon has also confirmed, to Reuters, that it would ban the usage of all single-plastic material used in its packing materials. This is potentially good news, as stated above, and also due to the fact that corporates should always take the lead in practically implementing plastic-free environs; rather than merely lecturing citizens. Now, as far as corporates are concerned, popular retail chain Avenue Supermarts that operates the D-Mart retail stores across many cities in India has been for long using only environmentally-friendly bags to let customers pack. These materials decay and do not cause harm to the earth. This, of course, should follow a standardized set of disposal mechanisms implemented by the Indian government for citizens to follow.
