Blok-on Blok Blockchain smartphone supports Blockchain-Android switch

Pundi X has announced a blockchain-powered smartphone at the IFA 2019 conference. This device, called BOB, lets you switch between Blockchain and Android modes.

Pundi X has announced a blockchain-powered smartphone at the IFA 2019 conference. This handset is called the Blok on Blok (BOB). The developers of the device claim that it would execute data on the Function X blockchain ecosystem. The blockchain phone was earlier called XPhone.

USP of this smartphone is also claimed to be its ability to keep service providers at bay with respect to accessing user data. This means that calls, text and every digital platform the user access will be fully decentralized, giving it a potential layer of privacy and security. Another notable feature of the smartphone is its ability to swap between Android and BlockChain modes.  This custom Blockchain mode would is driven by open-source f(x) operating system (OS) which means that it would incorporate contain every decentralized process, while Android mode would offer usability similar to the traditional Android phones. The BOB smartphone also offers the MOD Assembly Kit, that in turn comes with detachable parts constituting the XPhone’s externals. This means that users of the BOB could even assemble the externals.

“BOB marks a big step forward in our mission of creating a Blockchain Internet, a fully decentralized network where every piece of data shared is under the owner’s control,” stated Zac Cheah, Co-founder and CEO of Pundi X. “More importantly, BOB gives a sneak peek of a world powered entirely by blockchain technology, where everyone has control over their own data and everything is executed with the expectations of immutability and transparency,” added Cheah. BOB also serves as a virtual gateway to Blockchain internet. At this juncture, as many as 5,000 units of BOB would be manufactured and distributed. The BOB has a price tag of $599 (Rs 43000) and is currently offered as a prototype. The retail availability of smartphones would be announced soon. As of now, BOB is present on Kickstarter. This means that you could also fund the project and contribute towards its potential betterment.
