Popular content streaming service Netflix has now been updated with the “High Quality Audio” functionality which means that you could enjoy all your favourite shows/movies in sound qualities comparable to that of in theatres – complete with amplification of all necessary sound effects. You should be able to experience high-quality sound effects in Netflix in case you have a system compatible with at least 5.1 surround sound technology.

In addition to the above, your systems supporting Dolby Atmos are also eligible for the newest feature; hence, do check your TVs/internet connections now. As far as the latter is concerned, under the High-Quality Audio, Netflix states that the bitrate under Dolby Atmos would b up to 768 kbps and 640 kbps under the 5.1 surround sound respectively.

“We gave it this straightforward name because it fits: high-quality audio delivers audio that sounds closer to what creators hear in the studio, so every little detail is captured for a richer, more intense experience. Additionally, if you have bandwidth or device limitations, we’ve made the feature adaptive so that we will deliver the best possible audio to match your capabilities. This is like what we already do for video,” stated Netflix in an official blog post.

This means that you should now get to experience sound like that of what the content creators created in their studios/workplaces. Hence, you could enjoy music shows on Netflix with potentially full-fledged music – without the conventional bothersome lags that was an issue earlier.

“Often the subtlety of sound may go unnoticed, but it can have a profound impact on the atmosphere of a scene and fundamentally change how a viewer responds to it. The magical combination of sight and sound brings viewers closer to the story,” added Netflix. Hence, do check out the “enhanced Netflix” now.
