Instagram will now let you appeal Instagram's decision to take down certain posts of yours for violating its policies. Instagram’s head of policy Karina Newton has confirmed the rollout of a new in-app interface over the next few months. Facebook moderator will review and restore the visibility of your Instagram posts if it was wrongly removed. Instagram will inform users of their conclusion.

Up until now, Instagram let users appeal only account suspensions. But now Instagram is extending it to the takedown of certain posts as well. For example, you can appeal a takedown of your post if you feel that it doesn't violate Instagram policies and Instagram has mistakenly removed it.

“When you request a review, we’ll review your post to determine if it violates our community guidelines. All review decisions are final,” says Instagram on an updated in-app interface.

Instagram acknowledged despite training its reviewers to review and determine the post's visibility, they don't always get it right. That’s what Instagram is now looking to fix by letting users have a say in the decision involving takedown of their posts. This is how Instagram is letting users request a second review if users think they have made the wrong decision. Users can appeal both photos and videos taken down by Instagram.

Right now, Instagram users will only be able to appeal photos and videos taken down for violating Instagram's policies around nudity.

Meanwhile, Instagram is already cracking down on fake accounts and coming up with a new feature showing users information behind the username. Instagram has more than 1 billion users. Instagram users will now be able to evaluate the authenticity of Instagram accounts. It comes weeks after Facebook rolled out a similar feature to crackdown on fake accounts on its platform.

Instagram’s 'About This Account' feature will also let users see the ads running by the country, as well as the country where the account is located and username changes in the past year among other details. To learn more about an account, go to their Profile > tap the … menu > Select 'About This Account.'

Instagram also plans to verify logins by using Google Authenticator app for two-factor authentication.
