Mozilla Firefox 64 stable channel is out and USP of the latest Firefox release is that it lets users choose more than a couple of tabs from tab bar to bookmark, shift positions, open, and even close; theoretically making the entire tab management process relatively easier. Also, the amount of bandwidth consumed by each tab would also be displayed clearly in the new custom task manager page which you can access at about: performance.

With these vital statistics, it becomes easy to detect tabs that consume maximum resources, and thereby think about closing these or resorting to manually minimising resource allocation to these. Also, as per Mozilla, you should notice efficient sharing of web pages; do check the Page Actions option and the new Share function.

Mozilla has also stated that the new web page content sharing experience would be Windows-exclusive for the time being. For Mac and Linux users, there is the Link Time Optimization for higher performance. These users could also check out the new tab management experience (as stated above).

Along with the above enhancements, Firefox 64 users should also notice fixes to known bugs; in case you come across a bug do share to have it resolved within the subsequent release of Firefox. However, it is the tab management feature that appeals considering the fact that there has been an exponential rise in the number of users preferring to multitask by opening multiple tabs and facing difficulty in properly identifying which one they used last and also reverting to these.

Mozilla Firefox 64 is available for download here.

At this juncture, it is worth noting that rumour mills are abuzz with Microsoft eliminating its Edge browser in favour of a new application that could come with standalone services as well. This move, though not official, generates interest considering the fact that Microsoft is highly expected to offer an all new Surface phone likely with next-gen features. Hence, a new browser, at this point in time, compliant with all modern standards makes complete sense.
