Patanjali’s Kimbho, instant messaging app that was to complete with WhatsApp may not be up on Google Play anytime soon. Kimbho made its official entry into Google Play earlier this year but was taken down soon after release.

Now, as per a report in ThePrint that quotes Acharya Bal Krishna who is CEO and MD at Patanjali Ayurved, Kimbho may not at all come out as folks at Patanjali are said to be held up with multiple ventures thereby eliminating the idea to relaunch Kimbho at this point in time. There are also apparently no more future appointments scheduled as far as the “third-coming” of Kimbho is concerned.

At this instant, it is worth noting that WhatsApp is continually receiving updates with the latest being the Picture-in-Picture feature that allows for watching of Facebook and YouTube video content in the same chat UI.Also, the instant messaging application has been continually coming out with ads targeting users to apply discretion before forwarding content that seems to have originated from unreliable sources and content which is “sensitive”.

Finally, with Kimbho now not making it, the time seemingly calls for innovation from Indian minds towards developing an Indian alternative to WhatsApp that finds a wider user base even in other geographies of the world. Hence, you could share your thoughts and insights on how you would like to see the Indian WhatsApp alternative choice.

In related news, WhatsApp for iOS has been updated with th Group Calling feature which lets users place calls to three recipients at any point in time. With this, you could use a new button and once initiated, group video calls could be placed. You could check this feature out as well; and share your insights on the quality of the video calls placed via the new group calling functionality within WhatsApp for iOS. It could help in corporate conferencing at times.
