Sony Takeover Of Take Two Interactive For GTA 6 To Release On Sony PS5 Is Pure Rumour

Would the highly expected Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6) be released as a Sony PlayStation 5 (PS5) exclusive platform game? Rumour mills are now abuzz with a potential takeover of Take-Two Interactive by Sony resulting in publishing GTA 6 for the rumoured PS5 consoles.

Now, as per a MarketWatch report, firstly shares if Take-Two Interactive Software reportedly increased by as much as 6.88% representing the best time for these shares since October 2018. Amidst these, there were also apparent rumours about an expression of interest to takeover by Sony Corporation. MarketWatch also mentions Joel Kulina (Technology, Media Trading Head at Wedbush Securities) as having taken references to other rumours that stated about the apparent “takeover plans”.

Here rumour mills began to speculate the potentiality of a multiple of Take-Two Interactive published titles being applicable to future Sony PlayStation consoles. At this juncture, even the next-gen PS console is rumoured; nothing official has come to the fore. Also, Take-Two has a series of popular titles including the likes of GTA and Red Dead Redemption 2 via Rockstar Games.

Hence, this rumoured aspect has now racked up a storm in the gaming world. However, rumours are just that - only rumours; and the above reports about Kulina having taken references to other speculations about a Sony takeover of Take-Two seem not to be in line with reality.

This is because as per GamesIndustry which reportedly contacted Take-Two Interactive and Joel Kulina, both parties rubbished the “takeover” rumours.

“This is purely unconfirmed market speculation that is making the rounds,” stated Kulina to GamesIndustry.

At this point in time, it is worth taking rumours about GTA 6 being a PS5 exclusive with a pinch of salt. There could be other aspects concerning the speculated next-gen PS coming to the fore officially. For owners of Sony PS consoles, it only makes sense for the company to release an updated gaming device that could be called the PlayStation 5. Don’t you think so?
