Hack:

  • The founders of Swiggy themselves did food deliveries, by doubling up as delivery partners way back in 2014
  • If you had ordered from Swiggy in 2014, there are chances that you could have seen the founders dressed in Swiggy T-Shirts with food delivery boxes at your doorsteps

The founders of Swiggy themselves did food deliveries, by doubling up as delivery partners way back in 2014. This information has now come to the fore as Swiggy has turned 5, from starting out with just 20 restaurants in Bangalore and 6 delivery partners.

Now, this interesting trivia about the founders of the popular online food ordering-delivery application namely Rahul Jaimini, Nandan Reddy, and Sriharsha Majety coming to the fore seemingly provides food for thought. In this regard, if you had ordered from Swiggy in 2014, there are chances that you could have seen the founders dressed in Swiggy T-Shirts with food delivery boxes at your doorsteps.

At this point in time, Swiggy operates the Swiggy Stores that deliver groceries, fruits and vegetables to patrons, along with launching the Daily service that delivers homestyle meals prepared by dedicated home chefs. But the most interesting point in Swiggy’s 5-year journey has been its founders doubling up as delivery partners riding on two-wheelers.

As far as delivery partners are concerned, the number is said to be over 2,000,00. The online food ordering-delivery platform has also laid emphasis on “going green” through delivery partners delivering food on bicycles. Deliveries on bicycles are said to number in excess of 1.5 million in a month. There are also women among the delivery partner fleet, and an interesting fact to check out is a customer ordered Ice-cream on Swiggy and the value of this order was Rs 76527.
