WhatsApp is down for many users: Here is what we know so far

WhatsApp is reportedly experiencing a global outage as many users have taken to Twitter, complaining of being unable to use Facebook-owned popular instant messenger.

WhatsApp is reportedly experiencing a global outage as many users have taken to Twitter, complaining that they are unable to use Facebook-owned popular instant messenger. This comes in less than 12 hours after Google and Gmail suffered a global outage this morning.

Outage.report has received over 50 reports. Most of these reports have originated from India, United Kingdom, Hong Kong, Portugal, Malaysia and 13 more countries. Most of the affected users are reporting problems pertaining to sending messages.

Meanwhile, we have learned that users of Facebook and Instagram are experiencing similar issues.

“We’re aware that some people are currently having trouble accessing the Facebook family of apps. We’re working to resolve the issue as soon as possible,” Facebook spokesperson told RepublicWorld.

Update (11:57PM / March 13, 2019): According to WAbetainfo, WhatsApp continues to face the issue when it comes to sending media and text messages.

Update (12:58AM / March 14, 2019): Facebook has refuted reports that there has been a DDoS attack on their server.
