WhatsApp Rumoured To Be Testing Option To Block Sharing Of Frequently Forwarded Messages

If you are a WhatsApp user, now especially during the Indian elections 2019 season, how would it be to have the option to stop the sending of frequently forwarded messages?. Do you think that adding such an option to the popular instant messaging app makes sense?

In fact, the above feature is reported to be under test currently, as per a WABetaInfo report that also states that the version number 2.19.97 as being under test in the Google Play beta program. Though this feature is not available, to users of Google Android/Apple iOS platforms, it sure seems good as far as preventing the spread of fake news is concerned.

WABetaInfo states that when official the ability to stop, the forwarding of frequently forwarded messages, would be available in the Group Settings sub section. Also, users - admins of WhatsApp groups would be able to manually disable the feature. In case feature is activated, it would apparently prevent group members from passing on messages that are frequently forwarded (more than 5 times - version also under test).

Now, though the feature is yet to go official, it potentially does a little good as far a checking the spread of non-genuine content is concerned.  What do you think about this potential addition to WhatsApp, is it worthy of contributing a bit to check fake news spreading - especially considering the latest political scenario in the country.

In related updates, WhatsApp is also said to get an exclusive Apple iPad application. This app is still said to be in the research and development (R&D) at this point in time. The custom WhatsApp application for iPad does a world of good to iPad users - especially those preferring to use their devices for business more than general everyday usage. As of now, an iPhone is required to access WhatsApp on iPad sites - through WhatsApp web.
