Days after launching the entry-level Redmi 8A, Xiaomi has started teasing its next product launch in India. The product in question will most likely be the Redmi 8, something that Xiaomi has confirmed already. Now, Xiaomi India head Manu Kumar Jain has dropped the launch date on social media – Xiaomi will launch the Redmi 8 in India on October 9. The post doesn’t explicitly name the phone but it’s obvious what we’re dealing with here. If Xiaomi’s recent confirmation wasn’t enough, the post clearly highlights the number “8” leaving nothing to the imagination.

Manu Jain’s social media post also confirms some key highlights of the Redmi 8 although specific details about hardware haven’t been shared. The Redmi 8, for starters, will come with dual rear cameras. As with all phones Xiaomi lately, the Redmi 8 is also set to get a big battery – Xiaomi is calling the phone a battery champion. Further details are awaited.

That said, if a string of leaks going around are anything to go by, the Redmi 8 will reportedly come with a 6.21-inch HD+ or 720p+ display – possibly with Xiaomi’s dot notch. The phone is expected to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 439 processor paired with up to 4GB RAM and up to 64GB storage. The Redmi 8 is further said to pack a sizeable 5,000mAh battery with USB Type-C port for charging and data syncing. On to the cameras, the phone is said to come with two rear cameras – a 12MP main camera and another 2MP depth sensor for portrait photography. On the front, the phone is said to come with an 8MP camera.

Only recently, Xiaomi launched the Redmi 8A in India. During the launch keynote, which was hosted online, Xiaomi India head Manu Kumar Jain had also teased the company’s next product – the Redmi 8. The phone was also briefly shown by Manu Jain in the teaser.

The Redmi 8 isn’t the only product Xiaomi is gearing to launch soon in India. It is also set to launch the 64MP camera-toting Redmi Note 8 Pro in India soon.
