Amazon is updating its entry-level Fire TV Stick media streaming portable device line-up with a new version that adds the company’s all-new Alexa-enabled voice remote into the mix. The updated Fire TV Stick with second-generation Alexa voice remote will be available for buying for Rs 3,999 from Amazon India starting from the last week of January.

Amazon will also be selling the new Alexa voice remote as a stand-alone product for Rs 1,999 although for a limited period, buyers will be able to get it for as low as Rs 999.

The second-generation Alexa voice remote made its debut with the Fire TV Stick 4K which was launched in India not long ago. The main USP of the new Alexa voice remote is that it can “let you control your complete entertainment experience allowing you to power on and control volume on your compatible TV with a single remote.” It is very similar to the first-generation Alexa voice remote in looks and feel, but at the same time, it brings useful features like dedicated controls for power, volume and mute.

“The all-new Alexa Voice Remote is compatible with all Fire TV devices available in India and can control power and volume on thousands of TVs,” according to Amazon.

The Fire TV Stick on offer here is a standard affair though which means it can stream 720p (HD) and 1080p (full-HD) up to 60fps and supports Dolby audio. The Fire TV Stick 4K still remains the company’s flagship product that lets you stream Ultra-HD content in addition to supporting next-generation standards like Dolby Vision, HDR, HDR10, HLG, HDR10+ and Dolby Atmos.

“Fire TV Stick has truly bought back entertainment into the living room. Today, we are delighted to make Alexa an integral part of this experience. The Alexa Voice Remote incorporates a significant customer feedback to include TV Controls and avoid fumbling for multiple remotes,” Jayshree Gururaj, director, Amazon Devices said while announcing the Fire TV Stick with new Alexa voice remote.

With practically no competition in its product category in India, the Fire TV Stick brings the Alexa voice assistant and up to 4K media streaming to the masses. There is of course the Google Chromecast but the sheer variety that Amazon now offers with regards to the Fire TV Stick, makes it a stand-out product for those looking for hassle-free streaming on big screens. Amazon, to refresh, has three versions of the Fire TV Stick in India now: the standard Fire TV Stick with first-generation Alexa voice remote for Rs 3,499, the standard Fire TV Stick with second-generation Alexa voice remote for Rs 3,999 and the high-end Fire TV Stick 4K with second-generation Alexa voice remote for Rs 5,999.
