Huawei will launch the Huawei Watch GT in India on March 12; the company has confirmed. Huawei has in fact been teasing the Huawei Watch GT India launch on social media for some time now, particularly highlighting the smartwatch’s 2-week battery life. Huawei is seemingly also working on two more follow up smart wearables – aka Huawei Watch GT Active and Huawei Watch GT Elegant. Huawei will reportedly launch them alongside its new Huawei P30 series of smartphones on March 26.

The original Huawei Watch GT was launched in October last year alongside the Huawei Mate 20 series of smartphones – its key highlight being its killer battery life. Huawei says the Watch GT can last for up to 2 weeks on single charge with heart-rate monitoring on and 90 minutes exercise (tracking) per week, and it can last for up to a whopping 30 days if you're only receiving messages and calls with heart-rate monitoring off. The Watch GT can last for up to 22 hours with continuous exercise tracking, heart-rate monitoring and GPS on, Huawei claims.

"The Huawei Watch GT uses an innovative smart power-saving algorithm that enables it to dynamically switch between performance and efficiency modes, depending on user activity, for maximum battery life. This allows the smart watch to stay powered for up to two weeks for frequent use mode," Huawei says about the Watch GT.

A lot of this efficiency is achieved, in part, through Huawei’s custom Light OS – the Huawei Watch GT does not run Android or Wear OS like its predecessors.

Speaking of specifics, the Huawei Watch GT comes with a 1.39-inch AMOLED display with a 454x454 pixel resolution. It supports continuous heart-rate monitoring and is also 5ATM-certified (swim-proof). The optical heart rate sensor on-board the Watch GT uses 6 LEDs and when paired with Huawei's TruSeen 3.0 technology, it promises more accurate heart-rate monitoring, according to the company.

In other news, Huawei is also seemingly readying two more smartwatches – the Huawei Watch GT Active and Huawei Watch GT Elegant. Both are said to have the same screen and Light OS software as the Huawei Watch GT, although styling and functionality may vary.
