Apple will start selling the seventh-generation iPad in India from October 14. The seventh-generation iPad will be available for buying from both online and offline sales channels - these include the liked of Flipkart, Amazon India and Paytm Mall, and Apple Authorized Resellers across India. The seventh-generation iPad starts at Rs 29,900 for the 32GB variant with Wi-Fi, going all the way to Rs 48,900 for the 128GB variant with Wi-Fi + Cellular.
The seventh-generation iPad comes with a bigger screen and smart connector support – in time for Apple Arcade. The entry-level iPad is meant for those looking to own an iPad – which is possibly the only tablet that matters today – but without burning a hole in their pocket. This one also retains Apple Pencil support and even though this is limited to the first-generation Apple Pencil which is infamous for its silly charging, at least you have the option.
The seventh-generation iPad has the same look and feel as the sixth-generation iPad – it has the same core hardware as well, which is Apple’s A10 Fusion chipset. It has a bigger screen though. While the sixth-generation iPad came with a 9.7-inch screen, the seventh-generation iPad comes with a 10.2-inch display. There’s no True Tone or Pro Motion here – which is understandable. The new iPad has thick bezels on all the sided and Touch ID for biometric authentication.
A useful update though is that the new entry-level iPad now supports smart keyboards and not just Bluetooth. What is really interesting about the new iPad is that it will be the first iPad to ship with iPadOS out-of-the-box. iPadOS is basically iOS 13 plus new iPad-specific features. Some of these new features include, desktop-class browsing on Safari on iPad with native download manager, an even more granular files app with iCloud Drive support for folder sharing, native support for external drives and more deep-down Apple Pencil integration. The update also brings cursor support to the iPad.
