If there's one thing every OnePlus fan is talking about right now other than the upcoming flagship smartphone OnePlus 7T, it's the OnePlus TV! There's been so much excitement over the OnePlus TV that the build up to the launch has been unmatched. The main reason for the undying excitement has  been the steady stream of reveals one after  the other by OnePlus' Founder Pete Lau. Lau has, through his tweets put out some of the most interesting details on the OnePlus TV  over the past few weeks and this has certainly manage to create a buzz around the TV which is finally launching globally on Sept. 26. We thought why not compile everything we know about it so far, one last time before the mega launch. So let's get right into everything that we know OnePlus TV will offer for sure. Then, we'll discuss everything that's expected from OnePlus TV. Here we go!

OnePlus TV branding

First things first, OnePlus TV will be called...well...OnePlus TV. That was simple, isn't it? The good part is OnePlus has kept the branding pretty straightforward, unlike, well you know, 'Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1' or 'Apple iPhone 11 Max Pro.' Phew! Well, OnePlus' smartphone branding has always been easier to remember, unlike what we've mentioned above. They always append a number series, followed by a number and 'T' series. Starting this year, a new 'Pro' has also joined their smartphone branding, but that's a topic for another day. Now coming back to OnePlus TV, this is what the OnePlus TV logo looks like.

As usual, OnePlus has some fancy theory to back their decision behind the logo and the branding for OnePlus TV:

"We were inspired by classic geometric progression, which can be seen from so many classic art forms, such the ancient Hindu symbol, the mandala, and the famous ancient Greek temple, Heraion of Argos. And looking closer, you can tell that the we’ve used the same thickness for both logo and the letters to ensure an aesthetics of "symmetry" and "unity"," OnePlus says

Smartphone control

On Sept 16., OnePlus CEO Pete Lau posted a photo on Twitter with the hashtag #OnePlusTV. The picture revealed a half smartphone and what appeared to be a half remote control for the TV. Lau said - "Fast, smooth, seamless control through your smartphone."

Isn't it pretty obvious? A smartphone can control OnePlus TV. But since none of the existing OnePlus phones has an IR blaster or infrared support port, there's a pretty good chance that the upcoming OnePlus 7T series will have an IR blaster to control OnePlus TV. It will allow users to type seamlessly through their smartphones, especially when it comes to connecting to WiFi or searching for built-in shows and movies.

OnePlus TV remote

Then comes OnePlus TV remote! As we've seen on the pictures, OnePlus TV remote has a minimal number of controls, which is a good thing. We can expect most of the controls to be available on a smartphone with a dedicated app for OnePlus TV. Apparently, there are navigational controls at the top. There appears to be a dedicated button for Google Assistant, indicating deep integration of a whole new software experience built on top of Android. OygenOS for TV, maybe? Then, there's a button with the OnePlus logo, which will likely take users to home/main screen.

OnePlus CEO Pete Lau says that design of OnePlus TV remote is heavily inspired by OnePlus 3 series:

"The remote is inspired by the design of our OnePlus 3 series - its continuous hard edge perfectly blends into a rounded curve. The hard edge gives the remote a clear silhouette and structure, while the round curve adds some soft tone to it. Overall, it's another great example of our design language and attitude," Lau says.

Bare essentials

OnePlus TV will be up for grabs on Amazon and OnePlus Store. The listing confirms a 55-inch 4K QLED model with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos support. There will be 50W speakers on the TV and a rounded stand. Last but not least, it can adjust the volume automatically on its own before you answer a phone call. So there's been a lot of things happening in the background. OnePlus TV is expected in different sizes that fit your need and of course, your budget.

Stay tuned with us for more coverage on OnePlus TV and we'll be back with a similar story on everything we know so far about the OnePlus 7T.
