Oppo will launch the Reno Ace, the same phone that has been confirmed to come with a 90Hz display and 65W fast charging, in China on October 10. Ahead of launch, Oppo Vice President Brian Shen has revealed a few more key hardware specs of the Reno Ace and also confirmed that the phone will be accompanied by a special Gundam edition.

While a 90Hz display and 65W fast charging are enough to warrant your interest, we are happy to report that the Reno Ace will also come with Qualcomm’s latest and greatest Snapdragon 855+ processor – making it some sort of successor to the Reno 10x Zoom. It would be interesting to see if the Oppo Reno Ace ends up becoming a follow up to the Oppo Reno 10x Zoom, or one that would sit next to it like the Oppo Reno 2, Oppo Reno 2Z and Oppo Reno 2F.

While a 90Hz display looks all set to be the next industry standard, 65W fast charging will be a first - it looks like Oppo’s 65W fast charging tech will be an extension of the company’s existing 50W standard seen in the Oppo R17 Pro. Even as rivals max out at 45W.

Oppo has also confirmed that the Reno Ace will come with up to 12GB RAM and up to 256GB UFS 3.0 storage.

Oppo’s Reno lineup is known for their cameras, so we’re probably looking at some camera-centric innovations as well – Oppo has now confirmed that the Reno Ace will pack a 48MP quad camera setup on the rear but whether or not it’s similar to the one on-board the Reno 10x Zoom is something only time will tell.

Oppo recently launched the Oppo Reno 2, Oppo Reno 2Z and Oppo Reno 2F phones in India. While the Reno 2 (with 20x digital zoom and shark fin pop-up selfie cam) is the most premiere offering in the new series, the Reno 2Z and Reno 2F try to bring near similar experiences at even more affordable prices.

To refresh, the Reno 2 has a quad rear camera setup consisting of a 48MP main camera (with Sony IMX586 sensor) with OIS, an 8MP ultra-wide camera, a 13MP telephoto camera, and a 2MP portrait lens. The phone supports 5x hybrid zoom and 20x digital zoom. The Reno Ace is rumored to get the same setup. The Reno 2Z and Reno 2F meanwhile share much of the design aesthetics of the Reno 2 but feature a conventional pop-up front camera.
