Google might be working on a game streaming service powered by Chromecast. Amid unconfirmed reports and speculations, a new patent has been discovered offering a glimpse of what the companion hardware could look like. The patent document shows off what look like a controller, and as per the recent reports, this will certainly play a really important role in shaping up Google’s future of game service streaming platform.

Search giant Google could be seriously working towards expanding into the video gaming industry with the company’s unconfirmed “Project Yeti” efforts. They are even gearing up for (Game Developers Conference) GDC later this month. According to reports, Google will take the wraps off its game-streaming hardware during the event.

The newly-discovered patent in the U.S. has many crucial details to offer. First things first, we are looking at an internet-connected device here that will enable cloud technology integration. The patent covers a notification system for the device that is supposed to notify a player when a game available. What’s more, it will also notify players about a new invitation, chat request and more.

In October, Google briefly talked about Project Steam, an initiative testing Google’s streaming technologies in the U.S. “We’re testing interactive video streaming and have partnered with Ubisoft to test the streaming capabilities of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. ESRB Rating: Mature.”

Yanko Design published some design renders based on the patent description. It also talks about how Google’s Project Stream could make this whole thing possible. Importantly, it talks about Cloud-based hardware that let users plays and graphic-intensive games such as Assassin’s Creed, but on Cloud. Right from these games to the controller, everything’s operated using cloud computing.

The controller built-in chat and voice buttons. Then comes a Stream button, home button, options button, in addition to regular control sticks, action keys, directional pad, shoulder buttons, and triggers.

Yanko Design said: “Gaming with Google’s Project Stream won’t be a radically new experience… but it’ll be so radically convenient, you’ll probably be able to play the latest and best games on a Chromebook over reliable Wi-Fi… and if that isn’t the most mind-numbingly great thing ever, I don’t know what is!”
