Xiaomi’s Mi Band 4 which was launched in China first and only recently was made available in Europe is seemingly off to a blazing start – Xiaomi says it has sold 10 lakh Mi Band 4 units in just 8 days. In fact, “this is the fastest we've reached this milestone in the history of Mi Band,” Xiaomi global spokesperson Donovan Sung wrote on Twitter. Come to think of it, the numbers aren’t surprising. The Mi Band has become the industry standard as far as value for money fitness bands are concerned – the Mi Band has done well in India as well.

The main USP of the Mi Band 4 is its colour OLED display - the Mi Band 4 has a 0.95-inch AMOLED colour display with a 120x240 pixel resolution and 2.5D scratch-resistant glass up-top. The colour AMOLED display allows Xiaomi to bring custom watch faces to the Mi Band 4, which is a first for the Mi Band.

The Mi Band 4 retains the continuous heart rate monitor and sleep quality index features of the Mi Band 3 and adds a new six-axis accelerometer for enhanced tracking including swim stroke recognition - the Mi Band 4 is 5ATM-certified for the purpose. There’s also a built-in microphone now so users will be able to access voice commands. There’s also a model with NFC on-board now for enabling digital payments and generally faster connectivity.

All this, and the Mi Band 4 continues to be surprisingly affordable – pricing starts at CNY 169 (roughly Rs 1,700) for the standard edition, while the NFC edition will cost buyers CNY 229 (roughly Rs 2,300). There’s also a limited-edition Mi Band 4 that Xiaomi is bringing in partnership with Marvel Avengers for CNY 349 (roughly Rs 3,500).

Now Xiaomi is yet to launch the Mi Band 4 in India, but chances are the company may launch it alongside the Redmi K20 and Redmi K20 Pro phones in mid-July.
