Xiaomi’s Mi.com Is India’s top Single Brand Online Smartphone Channel: Counterpoint

With 40 million monthly active users and 24 million Mi Store app installs, Xiaomi’s Mi.com/in online store has become India’s top single brand online smartphone channel, according to data released by Counterpoint Research. With an overall market share of 11 per cent, Xiaomi’s e-retail platform is seemingly giving giants like Flipkart (53 per cent) and Amazon (36 per cent) some stiff competition. But while Flipkart and Amazon follow a multi-brand approach, Xiaomi sells only in-house products through Mi.com/in making it “the only exclusive brand website to be leading this category.”  

“While we are excited to celebrate yet another achievement of our Mi.com, we are also humbled by the increasing rate of love and admiration Xiaomi has been receiving from our Mi Fans which definitely ties in with the consistent success our brand outreach has achieved through the online sector in India. This also leveraged our position to become the largest single brand ecommerce channel for online smartphone sales,” Raghu Reddy, who is head of Online Category and Online Sales at Xiaomi India, said in a statement. 

“We are positive that our customers will continue to significantly benefit from Mi.com’s best in class service, high engagement and value-added services. We will continue offering them enhanced brand experience while providing the best of innovative Xiaomi products at incredibly honest pricing.” 

Several initiatives that Xiaomi offers through Mi.com/in have stood out from competition, especially when compared with e-retail platforms of rival brands like Samsung and Honor. Xiaomi’s service already caters to over 17,000 pin-codes in India and banks upon 10 warehouses spread across the country for fast deliveries – which is amazing since Mi.com/in made its India debut only in May 2015. 

Xiaomi also recently expanded its Express Delivery program so buyers in over 150 cities across India can avail guaranteed next day delivery of products ordered through Mi.com/in online store. Previously, the program was limited to Bengaluru. 

The expansion sees Xiaomi charging an ‘honest’ price of Rs 49 for buyers opting for Express Delivery (it started off as a free service for customers in Bengaluru). Xiaomi says buyers can buy over 90 products through Express Delivery.  

Elsewhere, Xiaomi offers a 2-day delivery period across all metro cities and a 4-day delivery period across the nation for products purchased through Mi.com/in.
