There is every possibility now that the Xiaomi Mi 9 SE mid range smartphone, could be launched in India at the earliest. At this point in time, it is worth noting that there is already a Xiaomi Mi 9 which was showcased during the recent Mobile World Congress (MWC 2019) in the launch pipeline. Also, the Mi 9 SE has already been launched in China, even before the MWC 2019, and this is a more affordable handset when compared to the yet-to-be-released Xiaomi Mi 9 that is rumoured to cost at least Rs 35000.

Now, going by an official Mi global compliance listing, the MI 9 is listed amongst those handsets that follow global compliance. This means that there is every possibility that the Mi 9 SE would be launched globally, including the likes of India (an economy where Xiaomi smartphones are intensely popular).

The Mi 9 SE has also been subjected to rumours, from earlier that have always stated that the mid range and apparently more affordable smartphone would be launched in India sooner or later. Hence, the latest reports about the global compliances add substance to these earlier reports.

However, Xiaomi/Redmi is yet to issue official confirmations regarding the reported Indian launch of the Mi 9 SE. This smartphone launched in China in 2019 features key technical specifications such as:

  • 5.97 inch display having 1080 x 2340 pixels resolutions and pixel density of 432 ppi
  • Android 9.0 (Pie) operating system with MIUI 10 out of top
  • Qualcomm Snapdragon 712 octa-core SoC
  • 48 MP + 13 MP + 8 MP triple snappers
  • 20 MP front camera
  • 6 GB RAM
  • 64 GB, 128 GB internal storage editions
  • LTE, HSPA, Bluetooth 5.0, WI-Fi, USB 2.0 connectivity
  • 3070 mAh fixed Lithium-Polymer battery.

It is clearly evident that the Xiaomi Mi 9 SE’s biggest USP is its triple camera - especially the 48 MP snapper that has seemingly become a trend in certain modern smartphones launched by Xiaomi. Hence, the Mi 9 SE could grab eyeballs if launched officially in India. What do you think?
