Apple’s most affordable new iPhone finally became affordable in India - in a first for Apple, the Cupertino major has slashed the price of the iPhone XR in India by a massive Rs 17,000. First because Apple historically has never slashed the price of its next-generation iPhones - even in a market like India which is infamous for being the most expensive market to buy an iPhone.

The Rs 17,000 price cut is effective across all the variants of the iPhone XR from April 5 across online and offline sales channels. This means, the iPhone XR which was launched at a starting price of Rs 76,900 for the base variant with 64GB storage now starts at Rs 59,900 in India. The top-end variant of the iPhone XR with 256GB storage which was launched at a price of Rs 91,900 will now sell for Rs 74,900 in India. The 128GB variant of the iPhone XR which was launched at Rs 81,900 will now sell for Rs 64,900.

Here are all the new iPhone XR India prices effective from April 5 -

iPhone XR 64GB: Rs 59,900 (previously Rs 76,900)
iPhone XR 128GB: Rs 64,900 (previously Rs 81,900)
iPhone XR 256GB: Rs 74,900 (previously Rs 91,900)

There will also be a limited period HDFC card scheme under which Apple will be offering the iPhone XR with 10 per cent cashback lowering the price even further. The 10 per cent cashback scheme means it will be possible to buy the iPhone XR effectively at Rs 53,900, Rs 58,400 and Rs 67,400 respectively.

Here are all the effective new iPhone XR India prices post the HDFC cashback (debit/credit) effective from April 5 -

iPhone XR 64GB: Rs 53,900
iPhone XR 128GB: Rs 58,400
iPhone XR 256GB: Rs 67,400

The iPhone XR, as mentioned earlier, is the most affordable iPhone in Apple’s new lineup - but it still costs significantly more than what one would pay for it say in the US. The price cut (finally) brings the iPhone XR India prices more or less in line with its US prices - also highlighting how Apple is seemingly more serious to get back in the game in India’s burgeoning smartphone market now.
