Asus is dropping the prices of its 2019 flagship phone, Asus 6Z, by up to Rs 5,000. The Asus 6Z is available in 6GB/64GB, 6GB/128GB and 8GB/256GB configurations While the prices of the 6GB/64GB and 6GB/128GB variants have been slashed by Rs 4,000, the top end 8GB/256GB model is getting a Rs 5,000 price cut in India. This means the new Asus 6Z prices in India are Rs 27,999, Rs 30,999, and Rs 34,999 respectively.
The main USP of the Asus 6Z is its flip-up dual camera setup. The phone has a dual camera module on the back which is part of a mechanical lifting or flipping mechanism – and when it lifts or flips, the whole module rotates on its axis by a full 180-degree to function as the front camera(s).
Speaking of cameras, the Asus 6Z has a 48MP primary camera with Sony’s IMX586 sensor with f/1.79 aperture. There’s also a secondary 13MP ultra-wide camera with a 125-degree field-of-view.
The flip-up dual cameras allow Asus to offer a notch-less ‘NanoEdge’ all-screen display on the Asus 6Z. More specifically, the phone has a 6.4-inch display with 1080p+ resolution and Corning Gorilla Glass 6 protection.
Under the hood, the phone packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor paired with up to 8GB RAM and up to 256GB storage which is further expandable via a dedicated micro-SD card slot. The dual-SIM phone runs Android 9 Pie-based Zen UI 6 software. The phone is further backed by a massive 5,000mAh battery with 18W fast charging support.
In terms of design, the Asus 6Z has a glass and metal sandwich design and is available in Midnight Black and Twilight Silver colour options. The phone retains the 3.5mm audio jack – something that is fast becoming a rarity in flagship phones. There are also dual stereo speakers here. Lastly, the Asus 6Z comes with a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner.
In other news, Asus is also dropping the prices of last year’s Asus 5Z by to Rs 7,000. The base variant of the phone with 6GB/64GB will now sell for Rs 16,999 (Rs 5,000 price cut), the variant with 6GB/128GB will now sell for Rs 18,999 (Rs 6,000 price cut), and the top end model with 8GB/256GB will now sell for Rs 21,999 (Rs 7,000 price cut).
