Asus’ crazy powerful gaming smartphone, the ROG Phone II, is coming to India on September 23. Asus is hosting a keynote event in the National Capital on September 23 where it will announce the ROG Phone II for the Indian market. Since the ROG Phone II is already a go in select markets around the world, we know everything that's there to know about it. Asus has also recently launched an ultimate edition of the ROG Phone II with whopping 1TB UFS 3.0 storage and a few other upgrades – it would be interesting to see if Asus brings that to India as well.

The Asus ROG Phone 2 is a gaming monster with a 120Hz AMOLED display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855+ processor with 12GB RAM and a 6,000mAh battery under the hood. Plus, there’s a whole host of accessories to announce, making the ROG Phone II a full-on gaming ecosystem of its own. Simply put, there’s no other high-end gaming phone quite like it.

Asus ROG Phone II specs and features

The ROG Phone II has three key highlights – display, core hardware and battery. Let's start with the display. The ROG Phone II comes with a 6.59-inch AMOLED 1080p display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 1ms response time – the screen also supports 10-bit HDR and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 6. Asus says it has made changes to Android to achieve a touch sensor sampling rate of 240Hz making the ROG Phone II smoother than even the Phone. The ROG Phone II also packs updated AirTriggers so the phone will be able to identify a casual tap and an actual press.

Coming to core hardware, the ROG Phone II was the first phone in the world to launch with Qualcomm’s top-of-the-line Snapdragon 855+ processor – which is an enhanced Snapdragon 855 designed for gaming with 15 per cent faster GPU performance. This is paired with 12GB RAM and 512GB storage (in the standard edition).

You can choose to use either stock Android-based Zen UI 6 or a gamer-centric ROG UI software on it – with ROG’s hallmark Armoury Crate which allows for per game customizations.

The ROG Phone II further comes with a 6,000mAh battery which is claimed to offer 7 hours of non-stop PUBG playback. An improved cooling system that consists of a vapor chamber and vents meanwhile keeps check on temperature. Elsewhere, the ROG Phone II also comes with dual front-firing stereo speakers – there's also a dedicated headphone jack.
