The Asus ROG Phone II is already a gaming monster with a 120Hz AMOLED display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855+ with 12GB RAM and 6,000mAh battery. On Wednesday, Asus announced an all-new Ultimate Edition of the phone – at IFA 2019 – that ships with whopping 1TB UFS 3.0 storage. There’s also a matte black finish on the back now, and faster LTE, but did I tell you – the ROG Phone II Ultimate Edition ships with 1TB storage? Just to be clear, that’s all out-of-the-box. 

Rest of the specifications are standard as the vanilla version – if you can call the ROG Phone II a standard phone that is.  

Asus ROG Phone II specs and features

The ROG Phone II comes with a 6.59-inch AMOLED 1080p display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 1ms response time – the screen also supports 10-bit HDR and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 6. Asus says it has made under the hood changes to Android to achieve a touch sensor sampling rate of 240Hz making the ROG Phone II smoother than even the new iPhone. Asus has also updating its AirTriggers feature so the phone will be able to identify a casual tap and an actual press.  

In terms of core hardware, the ROG Phone II is powered by Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 855+ processor – which is an enhanced Snapdragon 855 designed for gaming with 15 per cent faster GPU performance. This is paired with 12GB RAM and now 1TB storage. You can choose to use either stock Android-based Zen UI 6 or a gamer-centric ROG UI software on it – with ROG’s hallmark Armoury Crate which allows for per game customizations. 

The ROG Phone II further comes with a 6,000mAh battery which is claimed to offer 7 hours of non-stop PUBG playback. An improved cooling system that consists of a vapor chamber and vents meanwhile keeps check on temperature. The ROG Phone II also comes with dual front-firing stereo speakers – there's also a dedicated headphone jack. 

Asus ROG Phone II price 

The ROG Phone II is launching for global markets on Wednesday with the standard edition costing Euros 899 and the Ultimate Edition costing Euros 1,199. The first-generation ROG Phone made it to India so we have reason to believe Asus may also bring the ROG Phone II here, in the days to come.
