Asus is launching the VivoBook 14 X403 in India on Wednesday, and while it’s mostly in line with many competing products out there, it’s different in two big ways. The VivoBook 14 X403 has a whopping 24-hour battery life, as per Asus, and it is also MIL-STD 810G-certified for extreme durability and reliability. You come to appreciate both these aspects more when you come to realize, the VivoBook 14 X403 is designed to be a productivity-centric portable ultrabook. Unlike a vast majority of ultrabooks though, the VivoBook 14 X403 costs Rs 54,990 – essentially, it’s on the more affordable side of the ultrabook spectrum.

Design

The VivoBook 14 X403 has an all-metal chassis with a mere 16.5mm profile. It weighs just 1.3kg too. Asus is using its ‘frameless’ four-sided NanoEdge display here which keeps the bezels slim at 4.1mm offering a screen-to-body ratio of 87 per cent. This makes 14-inch VivoBook 14 X403 much more compact than other 14-inch laptops in the market, according to Asus. Asus isn’t using its popular ErgoLift hinge here though, which is a bummer.

Core Specs

Speaking of core specs, the VivoBook 14 X403 has a 14-inch 1080p display and is powered by up to an 8th Generation Intel Core i5-8265U processor paired with 8GB LPDDR3 RAM and 512GB PCIe SSD. The laptop packs integrated Intel HD Graphics 620 for some light gaming. Connectivity ports include USB 3.1 Type-A, USB Type-C, HDMI out, audio combo jack for headphones and microphones, and a full-sized SD card reader. There’s also a fingerprint scanner for biometric authentication.

Asus is also launching the VivoBook 14 X409 and VivoBook 15 X509 alongside the VivoBook 14 X403. While the 15-inch VivoBook X509 packs up to an 8th Generation Intel Core U-series processor and Nvidia MX230 discrete graphics, the 14-inch VivoBook X409 comes with up to an Intel Core i5-8265U processor. While the VivoBook X409 has been launched in India at a price of Rs 32,990, the VivoBook X509 will cost Rs 30,990.

“For Asus, the Indian market is of prime importance.
