If you are a user of the Asus Zenfone 4 smartphones, then you could check for Android 9.0 (Pie) via a beta update that should let you heuristically analyse and test how Google’s current-gen Android looks & feels like. This update is rolling out to the Zenfone 4 Max bearing model number ZC554KL.

The Zenfone 4 Max was launched in 2017 and runs the older Android 7.0 (Nougat) platform out of the box which later received the Android 8.0 (Nougat) update. With the Pie update, as per an official Asus forum posting, official to the smartphone, you should keep in mind the fact that this version is Pure Android and does not come with ZenUI on top.

To check for this update manually, you could navigate to Settings > About Phone > Updates > Check for Updates within your handsets.

Technically, the Zenfone 4 Max comes with key technical specifications such as:

  • 5.5-inch display having resolutions of 1280 x 720 pixels and pixel density of  267 ppi
  • Android 7.0 (Nougat) operating platform; out of the box with Zen UI on top
  • 1.4 GHz clocked Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 SoC
  • Adreno 505 GPU
  • 13 MP + 13 MP dual rear cameras
  • 8 MP front camera
  • 3 GB RAM
  • 32 GB internal storage
  • MicroSD card slot for expansion of internal storage up to 256 GB
  • Bluetooth 4.1, Wi-FI, microUSB 2.0 connectivity
  • Fixed Lithium-Polymer 5000mAh battery.

Here, it is also worth understanding that with its 3 GB RAM and octa-core SoC, running of high-end games had been a pleasure within the Asus Zenfone 4 Max; now with the Android Pie treatment, this experience could only get better.
