Xiaomi backed Black Shark is gearing to launch the Black Shark 2 gaming phone in China on March 18. Black Shark CEO Peter Wu has confirmed a few key hardware specs of the Black Shark 2 ahead of launch – also corroborating many rumour mills around the said gaming phone.
The Black Shark 2 will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor clubbed with up to 12GB RAM. The battery inside (although, the capacity hasn’t been quoted) will offer up to 60 per cent better performance than that inside its predecessor phones – both of which came with a 4,000mAh battery. Black Shark has already confirmed that the Black Shark 2 will come with a new cooling system – Liquid Cool 3.0 for seemingly longer gaming sessions, as well as faster 27W charging to top the juice.
The Black Shark and Black Shark Helo looked like dedicated gaming phones from afar. Black Shark had also put in RGB lighting to further accentuate their gaming credentials. Something similar will be expected from the Black Shark 2 as well.
Both the Black Shark and Black Shark Helo displays lacked a 120Hz refresh rate like the Razer phone though (they maxed out at 60Hz). Whether or not Black Shark changes that in the Black Shark 2 is something only time will tell
Black Shark is also known for accessories like the gamepad that the company bundled for free in the box – whether Black Shark introduces new accessories with the Black Shark 2 is also something that time will only tell.
The Black Shark Helo (which is the most recent Black Shark phone) was launched starting at CNY 3,199 which roughly translates to Rs 33,000 – more affordable than rival gaming phones like the Razer phone and the Asus ROG phone. The Black Shark 2 should be on similar lines.
While Black Shark hasn’t confirmed that it will launch the Black Shark 2 in India, the company has already entered India – it has started setting up offices in the country. So, you may never know.
