Days after Asus announced the ROG Phone 2, Xiaomi-backed Black Shark has launched the Black Shark 2 Pro in China. Both the phones are powered by Qualcomm’s latest and greatest Snapdragon 855+ processor which makes them the most powerful gaming phones in the world right now. Both the phones are exclusive to China for now though – but they should launch in global markets including in India soon.

The Black Shark 2 Pro is an upgrade over the Black Shark 2 which was only recently launched in India but the upgrades it brings along have more to do with refining the whole smartphone experience than anything else. Not only does it pack more powerful core hardware, Black Shark is also using faster UFS 3.0 storage in the Black Shark 2 Pro. There’s a slight upgrade in design as well, with two new RGB LED lights in addition to slightly better hand grip. Black Shark says that it has also reduced the touch latency and is now using a new liquid cooling 3.0 tech for more improved thermals.

Rest of the deal remains the same. The Black Shark 2 Pro has a 6.39-inch 1080p+ AMOLED display with bezels – that's right, the Black Shark 2 Pro does not have any notch or display cut-out. This OLED screen is also pressure sensitive so gamers will be able to assign virtual buttons on the it and trigger them by pressing hard(er) - Black Shark calls it Magic Press. This OLED screen is also home to an in-display fingerprint scanner.

It comes with up to 12GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage. The software inside is Joy UI – which is different from Xiaomi’s MIUI and is closer to stock Android. The phone packs a sizeable 4,000mAh battery and supports 27W fast charging via USB Type-C. The Black Shark 2 Pro further comes with dual rear cameras consisting of one 48MP Samsung GM1 sensor (for effective 12MP photos) and another 12MP telephoto sensor for 2X optical zoom. On the front, the Black Shark 2 Pro comes with a 20MP camera.

Black Shark has launched the Black Shark 2 in China at a starting price of CNY 2,999 (roughly Rs 30,000) for the base variant with 12GB RAM and 128GB storage while the top-end variant with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage has been launched at CNY 3,499 (roughly Rs 35,000).
