BSNL Rs 997 with 6 months validity now live, offers 3GB daily data 

BSNL which is now seemingly on the road to recovery has now come out with another semi-long validity plan for prepaid subscribers. This is the Rs 997 scheme. USP of this scheme is that it offers a validity of 180 days straight. It is an unlimited scheme, as well.

Now, the Rs 997 scheme is now live across the telco’s circles. It offers data benefits of 3GB per day, along with unlimited calls. These could be checked out even in the Mumbai and Delhi telecom circles where earlier TNL was a franchise player. This is now set to be merged with BSNL to form a single entity (called BSNL). Then, the Rs 997 plan offers other benefits such as 100 free text messages per day.  

There would be no IUC charges levied as well. This is because BSNL is a government-led telco, and has not yet been imposing the IUC that is fixed to be 6 paise per minute to voice calls made to other operators' networks, as mandated by TRAI. USP of the BSNL Rs 997 plan is its validity of nearly 6 months. When calculated per month, the cost per month comes to almost Rs 167 per month which is still decent considering that the data usage is 3GB per day (free limit) along with free + unlimited voice calling.  

In related news, BSNL’s annual prepaid recharge scheme of Rs 1699 now comes with a validity of 425 days. This is still live. In fact, the telco has aggressively been pushing its prepaid subscribers to opt-in for the Rs 399 plan. Hence, if you are a BSNL subscriber, you could check the plan if you think that it suits your telecom needs. For starters, benefits under this plan are 2GB data per day, unlimited calling up to 250 minutes per day, 100 free text messages, and the validity period of 425 days.
