Google Pixel 3a full specs leaked online ahead of I/O 2019

Not that any of this is a surprise. Google’s Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL have been the worst kept secrets of the tech world, after well, the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL. Serial tipster Roland Quandt has now shared the full spec sheet – corroborating one more time, every spec we’ve come to expect from Google’s smaller mid-range Pixel phone. The Pixel 3a XL specs are already out in the open as well, courtesy countless leaks – leading to D-day, which is Google I/O (May 7) where the global search engine giant will officially launch them for global markets. 

We’ve already seen renders of the white, blue/purple and black variants of the Pixel 3a. Off these, the white and blue/purple variants will have ‘funky’ power buttons (orange in the case of the white, and yellow in the case of the blue/purple), while the black will have a more generic black power button. The design will be reminiscent of the Pixel 3, although the Pixel 3a is expected to be all-plastic to cut cost – the leaked spec sheet confirms that, as well as the rumored bit that the Pixel 3a will also retain the Pixel 3’s squeezable Active Edge feature. 

All that plastic should mean no wireless charging, but the Pixel 3a will support (18W) fast charging.  

Speaking of specs, the Pixel 3a is said to come with a 5.6-inch 1080p+ OLED display with 18:9 aspect ratio. The processor inside is said to be a Qualcomm Snapdragon 670, paired with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. The Pixel 3a is further said to come with a 3,000mAh battery. The Pixel 3a is also said to pack stereo speakers, Bluetooth 5.0 and NFC connectivity. Being a Pixel phone invariably means three years of software support directly from Google – the Pixel 3a is said to come with Android Pie software. 

The most exciting bit will be the cameras, however. The Pixel 3a is said to have the same cameras as the Pixel 3 - a 12.2MP Dual Pixel rear and an 8MP front camera. 

Clearly, the only areas where the Pixel 3a will fall short of the Pixel 3 are the build materials and the processor – also, it will reportedly lack the secondary front camera seen in the Pixel 3. But if its rumored pricing is anything to go buy, the Pixel 3a at a price of $399 (roughly Rs 27,750) could be a winner on arrival – its India price could be higher though. The 6GB RAM and 64GB storage variant of the Pixel 3a XL will reportedly cost Rs 44,999 in India, while globally it is expected to cost $479 (roughly Rs 33,300).
