Huawei subsidiary Honor has launched the Honor Magic 2 3D in China which is said to be an upgrade over the vanilla Honor Magic 2 which was launched in October last year. The Honor Magic 2 3D has a new 3D structured front camera, more storage and graphene cooling – and a higher price tag to tag along.

The Honor Magic 2 is a mechanical slider phone much like the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 – with three cameras on the front and three on the back. That’s a 16MP+16MP+24MP setup on the rear and a 16MP+2MP+2MP setup on the front. The Honor Magic 2 3D swaps one of the 2MP cameras on the front with a 3D structured camera that can supposedly track 10,000 facial points for more secure face unlock. Another advantage of a 3D camera is that it will be able to authenticate even in the dark. Not to mention, such a system will also entail in better portrait photos.

The Honor Magic 2 3D is powered by Huawei’s top-of-the-line Kirin 980 chipset (like the original) but Honor has also thrown in a graphene heat pipe for sustained performance by keeping temperature in check. It will be available in 8GB RAM and 512GB storage configuration.

Rest of the hardware specs include: a 6.39-inch 1080p+ AMOLED display, Android 9 Pie-based Magic UI and 3,500mAh battery with 40W fast charging through USB Type-C.

The Honor Magic 2 3D has been launched in China for CNY 5,799 which roughly translates to Rs 60,495. The original Honor Magic 2 never made it to India, and the same fate may await the Honor Magic 2 3D.

For now, the Honor View 20 is Honor’s top-tier smartphone in India which is claimed to be the world’s first smartphone with 25MP punch-hole selfie and 48MP (Sony IMX586 sensor) rear camera. Honor has launched the Honor View 20 in India at a starting price of Rs 37,999. This is for the base variant with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. The Honor View 20 will also be available in 8GB RAM and 256GB storage configuration for Rs 45,999.
