Huawei will launch its high-end flagship phone with Leica-tuned quad cameras, aka the P30 Pro, in India on April 9. The company may also launch the P30 Lite alongside although the vanilla P30 may not launch in India at this point of time (which won’t be surprising since the vanilla P20 also never made it to India).
The April 9 launch date has been revealed by Amazon India – the online retail website has been teasing the P20 Pro India launch with a dedicated ‘notify me’ page for some time now. The listing does not mention the P30 Lite (or the P30) so we’ll have to wait and watch out on that.
Huawei launched the P30 Pro and P30 phones at a keynote event in Paris on March 26 while the P30 Lite was silently launched a couple of days later.
The P30 Pro, being the flagship phone, will of course be the star attraction on D-day - its quad rear camera setup is its biggest USP. The P30 pro has a 40MP primary rear camera (27mm f/1.6 with OIS), and an 8MP 125mm telephoto sensor with f/3.4 aperture and OIS, a 20MP ultra-wide camera (16mm f/2.2) and a Time-of-Flight camera for 3D depth mapping purposes.
Huawei has launched the P30 Pro at a starting price of Euros 999 (roughly Rs 78,000) for the base version with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage going all the way to Euros 1,249 (roughly Rs 97,000) for the top-end version with 8GB RAM and 512GB storage. The 8GB RAM and 256GB storage version of the P30 Pro has been launched at Euros 1,099 (roughly Rs 85,500). The Amazon listing of the P30 Pro suggests Huawei may bring only the 8GB RAM and 256GB storage version of the phone to India – and it could cost more than what the Mate 20 Pro does considering that it’s a next-generation flagship phone.
