Huawei launched the flagship P30 Pro in India on Tuesday. Huawei also launched the P30 Lite alongside the P30 Pro – which tries to offer some of the premium features of the P30 Pro at a relatively more affordable price tag. While the P30 Pro has been launched in India for Rs 71,990, the P30 Lite will start at Rs 19,990. Both the phones will be available for buying from Amazon India and Croma stores.

The P30 Pro was first unveiled just two weeks ago in Paris and has been garnering rave reviews ever since – Huawei had also launched the vanilla P30 in Paris but the company is not bringing it to India for now.

The P30 Pro broadly focuses on three aspects - design, cameras and all-round performance.

Its Leica-tuned quad rear camera setup is of course its main USP - the P30 Pro has a 40MP primary rear camera (27mm f/1.6 with OIS) which uses a custom Sony sensor that uses an industry first RYYB array (instead of the more conventional RGB filter) for up to 40 per cent more light intake. By default, this camera shoots 10MP photos, but it is also possible to capture native 40MP photos with the P30 Pro.

The P30 Pro further has an 8MP 125mm telephoto sensor with f/3.4 aperture and OIS - Huawei is using a periscope lens here that is capable of achieving 5X optical zoom, 10X hybrid zoom and 50X digital zoom.

The P30 Pro, in addition, also has a 20MP ultra-wide camera (16mm f/2.2) and a Time-of-Flight camera for 3D depth mapping purposes.

Together, the quad cameras on-board the Huawei P30 Pro offer a level of versatility that no other smartphone does, especially in India. On the front, the P30 Pro has a 32MP camera.

Speaking of design, Huawei is retaining its signature light-bending gradient finish on the P30 Pro – the P30 Pro is made of curved glass and metal. Huawei is bringing the Breathing Crystal and Aurora colour variants of the P30 Pro to India.

In terms of core specs, the P30 Pro comes with a 6.47-inch OLED display with 1080p+ resolution and teardrop-style notch. The P30 Pro does not have a conventional earpiece, instead it uses the display as the earpiece - Huawei calls it acoustic display technology. The phone is IP68-certified for water and dust resistance and comes with an optical in-display fingerprint scanner.

The phone is powered by the Kirin 980 processor with 8GB RAM and up to 256GB storage which is expandable via Huawei's proprietary NM cards (sadly, those aren’t available in India yet). The P30 Pro runs Android Pie-based EMUI 9.1 software.

The P30 Pro further packs a 4,200mAh battery with 40W fast charging and 15W fast wireless charging - the P30 Pro also supports reverse wireless charging.

Huawei P30 Pro India price and availability

Huawei has launched the P30 Pro in India with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage at a price of Rs 71,990. As a promotional scheme, Huawei will be offering the Huawei Watch GT worth Rs 15,990 for just Rs 2,000 with the P30 Pro.
