Huawei Y9 2019 India launch soon, will be Amazon exclusive

While Honor is prepping to launch its high-end Honor View 20 in India, parent company Huawei is starting the new year on a seemingly lighter note with a budget-centric phone called the Huawei Y9 2019. Amazon India has started teasing the Huawei Y9 2019 with a dedicated notify-me page, suggesting it would be exclusively selling the device in the days to come. Amazon India will also be exclusively selling the Honor View 20 in India post launch. Both the Honor View 20 and the Huawei Y9 2019 will be launched in India this month.

The Huawei Y9 2019, as mentioned earlier, will be a budget-centric device. Amazon India says that the Huawei Y9 2019 will be a “powerful smartphone at an affordable price,” and we believe Huawei will price it under Rs 20,000, quite possibly at around Rs 15,000. At this price, the Huawei Y9 2019 will compete with phones like the Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro, the Nokia 7.1 and the Asus ZenFone Max Pro M2 among others. Honor also has a string of devices in this price category including the gorgeous Honor 8X. 

The Huawei Y9 2019 isn’t a new device and is already available in some markets which means we already have a good idea about what’s in store. The Huawei Y9 2019 has Huawei and Honor’s signature gradient design with an iPhone X-style notch on the front. It comes with a 6.5-inch 1080p+ tall display and a Kirin 710 processor under the hood. It comes with up to 6GB RAM and up to 128GB storage. 

On the software front, the Huawei Y9 2019 runs Android Oreo-based EMUI and packs staple Huawei features like GPU Turbo technology for enhanced gaming experiences while playing compatible games. 

On the camera front, the Huawei Y9 2019 sports a dual camera setup on the rear consisting of one 16MP senor and another 2MP sensor for depth-sensing or portrait photography. The Huawei Y9 2019 also packs two cameras on the front: a 13MP and another 2MP sensor. 

The phone is backed by a sizeable 4,000mAh battery and charges via standard micro-USB.
