OnePlus finally confirmed the launch date of its next flagship, OnePlus 7 and it's May 14. This launch date has been doing the rounds on leaks and now the company has confirmed the date. OnePlus 7 is clearly one of the most awaited smartphones out there.

Much of the details of the new OnePlus 7 have already been out through major leaks and some official confirmation. So far, we know for sure that the phone will have a killer display that apparently shocked Pete Lau himself. OnePlus 7 will be launched with a plus one which is the OnePlus Pro, something that the leaks told us already and now is officially confirmed. And OnePlus 7 pro will be 5G ready.

OnePlus has time and again said that OnePlus is fully ready to make 5G devices but again the company is fully aware that the 5G ecosystem still has a long way to do. Leaks have hinted that OnePlus 7 might include triple rear cameras, with one 48-megapixel sensor, another 16-megapixel sensor, and a last 8-megapixel sensor, single LED flash on the back and a pop-up selfie camera.

OnePlus 7 is likely to feature a 6.5-inch screen whereas the Pro variant of the smartphone will sport a dual edges 6.67-inch Super optic display. The phone will come with 8GB RAM and 256GB of internal storage and will run on Android 9 Pie and pack a USB Type-C port. Reports suggest that both phones will be powered by Snapdragon 855 SoC. Apart from that, OnePlus could also be introducing wireless earbuds along with the new OnePlus 7 smartphone.

While the phone is the most awaited smartphone of 2019, it will be interesting to see how the smartphone brand prices its new flagship. The prices have gone up of OnePlus devices with every launch but with no impact on the popularity of the OnePlus phones. OnePlus is no longer in that budget phone or premium phone conundrum, looks like the world is accepting it as a premium phone.

According to Counterpoint, OnePlus is now in the global top 5 in premium smartphone category. In India, the smartphone maker managed to top the charts as the number one premium smartphone company with its last devices OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T.
