Lava Sets Foot Onto Newer African Shores, Check Out The Newer Offerings

Lava kicks off aggressive business expansion in international markets, starts operations in Kenya, Ghana, and Nigeria.

Local brand Lava has now set foot into newer African markets such as  Ghana, Nigeria, and Kenya as a part of its International expansion plan. Lava’s launch event held in Ghana on January 24, and Nigeria on January 28 witnessed the unveiling of Lava’s Z series and Iris series smartphones and Champion Series feature phones in these markets.  

Lava’s Z series consists of 4G smartphones, whereas the Iris series smartphones budget devices.  There is also the Lava feature phones that are targeted at tier-3 African regions.

The official  Media event at Kenya is scheduled for February 5, 2019. The company also plans to make new additions to both the Z series and Iris series in the next quarter of 2019.  
Lava started operations in Africa with its entry into Egypt in 2017 and reportedly became the fastest brand to gain more than 15% market share in the sub $100 segment within a year of launch. In the second quarter of 2019, Lava plans to expand its operations to six more African countries- Uganda, Tanzania, Ivory Coast, Ethiopia, Senegal, and South Africa.  

Along with setting up sales and service infrastructure in Africa Continent, Lava is also said to be preparing to launch manufacturing capabilities in Egypt and Ethiopia, aiming to capture 20% market share by 2020.

Along with the above, Lava has also received an Invitation from the Government of Uzbekistan for collaboration to establish their manufacturing unit in the country.  

In related smartphone updates, Samsung which recently launched its Galaxy M10 and M20 smartphones could showcase the next-gen Galaxy S10 (multiple variants) during its Unpacked event on February 20 in San Francisco. These purported Samsung smartphones have become the target of intense rumor mills that have speculated on almost every technical aspect. However, whether these turn out to be reality is a question that would be answered only on February 20.
