Lenovo has announced its first commercial 5G smartphone, aka the Lenovo Z6 Pro 5G, at MWC Shanghai 2019. The Z6 Pro 5G is the 5G-ready variant of the original Z6 Pro which was launched in China in April. This means that the Z6 Pro 5G has the same specs and design (albeit with a transparent back) - but adds Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X50 modem into the mix. Lenovo also showcased what it claims to be the world’s first 5G laptop at MWC Shanghai 2019.

A thing to note about both these devices is that Lenovo isn’t revealing their price and availability specifics just yet – Lenovo's 5G laptop which is based on Project Limitless and was first showcased at Computex 2019 in Taiwan doesn’t even have a name yet. All this seemingly suggests that Lenovo’s 5G-ready smartphone and laptop may not be ready for prime-time just yet.

Speaking of specs, the Lenovo Z6 Pro 5G has a 6.39-inch 1080p+ AMOLED display and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor paired with up to 12GB RAM and up to 512GB storage. A 4,000mAh battery drives the whole thing and there’s USB Type-C for charging and data syncing with 27W fast charging support.

On to the cameras, the Lenovo Z6 Pro 5G has four cameras on the rear – a 48MP main sensor with an f/1.8 lens, a 16MP sensor with a wide-angle-lens, an 8MP sensor with a telephoto lens, and a 2MP camera. There’s also a dedicated Time of Flight sensor on-board the Z6 Pro 5G. On the front, the Lenovo Z6 Pro has a 32MP camera.

To refresh, the original Lenovo Z6 Pro starts at CNY 2,899 (roughly Rs 30,000) in China - this is for the variant with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage.

As for Lenovo’s 5G laptop, its hardware specifics still remain a mystery although the company has previously confirmed that it will be based on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8cx SoC platform.
