The Mobile World Congress (MWC 2019) that takes place from January 25 in Barcelona is set to witness newer smartphones being launched. Joining this bandwagon could be LG that is already hugely rumoured to be showcasing a handset offering options to attach a second display. Now, this handset is rumoured to be not foldable.
However, rumour mills are now rife about the fact that there would be a foldable smartphone showcased by LG at the MWC 2019. As per a Naver report (translated), this handset would sport two displays that would be foldable to potentially offer new experiences to users of these smartphones.
At this juncture, it is not known if this purported foldable handset would be a prototype or get an actual launch. Here, it is also worth noting that LG is also expected by loyalists to introduce the LG G8 series of premium smartphones during MWC 2019. The company is yet to officially issue updates regarding newer smartphone launches at the event.
Nonetheless, fellow South Korean electronics giant Samsung is also heavily expected to unveil foldable smartphones and at least a prototype of a new 5G-compatible handset. If you are an LG/Samsung loyalist do share thoughts and insights on your expectations at the MWC 2019 from these brands.
Samsung also has an Unpacked event on February 21 before the MWC conference where loyalists believe that the brand would showcase the premium Galaxy S10 handset and a 5G-compatible phone as well.
In related news, Sony could also showcase the Xperia XZ4; expectations regarding a new handset from the Japan-based smartphone brand are rife considering the fact that the time is now ripe (from a loyalist perspective) to witness a new high-end Sony smartphone. Whether or not there would be 5G-compatibility with the new Sony handset - we would have to wait till the MWC 2019 kicks-off on January 25 in Bacelona Spain.
