LG set to show off a phone with touch-less gesture support on Feb 24 at MWC 2019

LG is gearing for MWC 2019, and by the looks of it, it has something interesting to share. Rumour has it that LG will announce its G7 ThinQ successor at its February 24 MWC 2019 keynote. A foldable smartphone may also be just around the corner. But none of this has been confirmed by LG yet. What it has confirmed is that it is all set to

: whether this would be one of the features of the LG G8 or the company’s first foldable phone, is something only time will tell. 

LG isn’t new to gimmicks. Whether it be toying with modularity or adding a dedicated secondary ticker screen, LG has done it all. Having said that, touch-less gesture support, isn’t new to smartphones, so it would be interesting to see what LG has in store with its own version. All we know for now is that this new LG phone will allow users to say, “goodbye to touch.” Which means hovering gestures would be one key aspect here. That’s all that there is to it for now. But now that LG has started dropping Easter eggs, hopefully, it would drop some more in the days to come.  

LG’s current-generation flagships, the G7 ThinQ and V40 ThinQ, have been the dark horses of the smartphone world. Both punch way above their weight, and yet somehow, they’ve gone largely unnoticed among the Galaxys and the iPhones of the world. But that is how it has always been for LG phones. They have always been awesome, a jack of all trades if you may. But because they have not been a master of one – the cameras, for instance – it has been a little difficult to recommend over peers. That has not stopped LG from trying though and the upcoming phone that it has started teasing seems no different. 

LG is no stranger to launching flagship phones at MWC. The LG G6 was launched at MWC 2017. And even though the LG G7 was launched at a standalone event in May last year, the company may return to MWC this year with a new flagship, the LG G8 or whatever it decides to call it.
