Meizu 16T launched with Snapdragon 855, triple cameras 

Meizu’s next high-end flagship is called the Meizu 16T and it’s every bit a value flagship like say the OnePlus 7T or the Xiaomi Redmi K20 Pro which means that it packs top notch hardware and yet somehow comes at mainstream prices. The Meizu 16T has a flashy gradient design, an OLED display with in-display fingerprint scanner, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855 processor, triple rear cameras, and a generous 4,500mAh battery. 

Meizu has launched the Meizu 16T in China at a starting price of CNY 1,999 (roughly Rs 20,000) for the base variant with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage going all the way to CNY 2,499 (roughly Rs 25,000) for the top-end variant with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage.

Speaking of specs, the Meizu 16T comes with a 6.5-inch 1080p+ OLED display with a slight forehead – there's no notch or display cut out on this one – that houses a 16MP selfie camera, earpiece and your usual sensors. The screen is TÜV-certified and boasts of 600 nits of brightness. The phone comes with an in-display fingerprint scanner for biometric authentication. 

On the inside, the Meizu 16T comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor paired with up to 8GB RAM and up to 256GB storage. The phone runs Android 9 Pie based Flyme 8 which is Meizu’s custom skin. A 4,500mAh battery drives the whole thing and the phone supports 18W fast charging. 

On to the cameras, the Meizu 16T has three rear cameras – a 12MP main camera with f/1.9 aperture, an 8MP ultrawide-angle camera with 118-degree field-of-view, and another 5MP camera for depth sensing aka portrait photography.  

The Meizu 16T is already available for buying in the US and comes in three gradient paintjobs – orang, blue and green. 

The Meizu 16T may not have expandable storage, or an IP rating, or wireless charging, but then the phones that it is competing with are also no different. The Meizu 16T seems to be Meizu’s answer to the Xiaomi Redmi K20 Pro and OnePlus 7T with high-end specs and affordable pricing. It would be interesting to see if Meizu brings the Meizu 16T to global markets anytime soon.
