If you are first-time internet users you now get to learn all the nuances of digital relatively early via the Digital Udaan scheme developed in tandem with Reliance Jio's Mukesh Ambani and Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg. The program is said to be the largest ever digital literacy program in India.

The Digital Udaan program would be available in as many as 10 Indian languages and in 13 different states across the country. The initiative would also focus on educating first-time Jio users (including Jio Phone) the basics of digital literacy.

Digital Udaan would also encompass audio-visual material dealing with all important aspects of digital including safety, privacy, and safe handling of devices. Here, it is worth remembering that Reliance Jio’s total subscriber based has exceeded 300 million and the interesting fact is that there apparently are numerous first-time internet users connected to the web through Jio’s JioPhone feature phone that offers 4G-LTE connectivity.

In case you are a Reliance Jio user, you could take off on your Digital Udaan relatively quickly. The Digital Udaan modules would reportedly be prepared in tandem with Facebook’s expertise.

This Ambani-Zuckerberg partnership could even potentially lead to newer internet users entering the digital space - especially in the tier-2 and tier-3 Indian markets. Penetration of JioPhone could also be a key factor here. For starters, the Jio Phone (both the first and second editions) is affordably priced and start at Rs 1600. Digital Udaan, upon formal kick-off, could add value to buyers of the 4G feature phone.
