New MNP rules for port-out customers coming in to force soon

New Mobile Number Portability rules, slated to kick-off from 11 November, in case you forgot. If you have really forgotten about the new rules don’t fret as these rules make lives of those wanting to port-out form their networks easier. To enforce these new rules, there would be a temporary blackout of MNP requests from 4 November till 10 November. From 11 November, your port-out requests would be completed In just the working days, as per Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI).  

New MNP rules makes the process easy, and less time-consuming

As per the new TRAI-recommended TRAI regulations, MNP requests within the same Localized Service Areas (LSA) of telcos would get completed in three working days. For requests from one LSA to another, the process would take just 5 working days. Earlier, both these processes took at least 7 working days, leaving a cross-section of port-out customers unhappy and frustrated with having to stick to the same operator.  

““Individual porting requests of Intra-Licensed Service Area (Intra-LSA) nature will be completed in 3 working days; whereas the porting requests of Inter-License Service Area (Inter-LSA) nature and all porting requests under corporate category (including Intra-LSA and Inter-LSA) will be completed in 5 working days,” states TRAI in an official press release.   

The temporary with-holding of MNP service would begin from 18 hrs on 4 November and go on till 23:59 hours of 10 October. In case you are desirous of submitting your port out requests early, you could do so before 17:59 hours o f4 November. If you attempt at generating the Unique Porting Code (UPC) during the MNP service with-holding period window, then you could not any response from your telco. Under these situations, you would have to anyway wait till 11:59 hours of 11 November.
