HMD Global is making its IFA debut with two compelling affordable mid-rangers, focused on bringing high-end camera possibilities to the masses. The phones in question are called the Nokia 7.2 and Nokia 6.2. Both the phones are largely alike but there are some big differences in hardware – the Nokia 7.2 is the more potent offering while the Nokia 6.2 tries to bring near similar experiences at an even lower price. While the Nokia 7.2 has been launched at a starting price of Euros 299 (roughly Rs 24,000), the Nokia 6.2 starts at Euros 199 (roughly Rs 16,000).

Both the Nokia 7.2 and Nokia 6.2 have the design. In fact, it would be hard to make out the difference on first look. There is a difference though – only the Nokia 7.2 gets ZEISS branding. Both the phones boast of an all-glass body (Corning Gorilla Glass 3 on the front as well as on the back) with triple cameras embedded inside a Nokia Lumia-like circular module and physical. There’s also a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner and USB Type-C for charging and data syncing in both the Nokia 7.2 and Nokia 6.2. While the Nokia 7.2 will come in Cyan Green, Charcoal and Ice colors, the Nokia 6.2 will be available in Ceramic Black and Ice colors.

Nokia 7.2, Nokia 6.2 specs and features

Both the Nokia 7.2 and Nokia 6.2 have the same 6.3-inch 1080p+ display with a waterdrop-style notch – the screen’s hallmark PureView with HDR10 support and is capable of upscaling standard content to HDR.

Both the Nokia 7.2 and Nokia 6.2 have triple rear cameras – with different main cameras. While the Nokia 7.2 comes with a 48MP main camera with f/1.9 aperture, the Nokia 6.2 makes do with a watered down 16MP primary shooter. Both the phones pack the same additional 8MP wide-angle camera with 118-degree field-of-view and a 5MP depth sensor. On the front, while the Nokia 7.2 comes with a 20MP camera, the Nokia 6.2 has an 8MP selfie shooter.

The Nokia 7.2 gets ZEISS optics too, with “ZEISS bokeh styles available in portrait mode.”

The Nokia 7.2 is a more powerful phone on paper with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor paired with up to 6GB RAM and up to 64GB storage. The Nokia 6.2 is meanwhile powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor paired with up to 4GB RAM and up to 64GB storage. Both the phones support expandable storage. Both the phones run Android 9 Pie software and are claimed to be “Android 10 ready with Android One.

Both the Nokia 7.2 and Nokia 6.2 come with a 3,500mAh battery with standard 10W charging – no fast charging.
