The Nokia 9 PureView is incoming. Supposedly soon enough. This is probably why more and more concrete details about HMD Global’s first true flagship device are trickling down from within the confines of the Internet each day. Every Nokia 9 PureView rumour mill has so far seemingly confirmed the existence of a penta-camera setup, but none of them has touched upon the actual functionality of these five rear cameras. Until now.

Earlier in the day, serial tipster Evan Blass had posted what appeared to be the first official press render of the Nokia 9 PureView on Twitter. Now, a promotional video from which the render seems to have been taken from, is doing the rounds of the Internet. The footage cements many long-standing rumours concerning the Nokia 9 PureView, but most importantly, it lays bare some important information about the phone’s one-of-its-kind penta-camera setup.

The Nokia 9 PureView will indeed ship with five rear cameras: with seven openings in total, including one for LED flash and another for the optical sensors. Users will be able to shoot five simultaneous shots – making use of all its five cameras together – with the Nokia 9 PureView penta-camera setup, entailing in capturing ‘life in impossible detail.’ The penta-camera setup, according to the video, will allow for up to 10x increased light capture (in comparison to a regular smartphone camera colour sensor) for enhanced low-light photography. The Nokia 9 PureView is further touted to shoot stunning crisp HDR photos, and on basis of the video footage, it appears one of the on-board sensors will be monochrome or black and white.

The leaked video also spills the beans on design and core hardware. The Nokia 9 PureView will come with a 5.99-inch 2K+ HDR10-ready PureDisplay with slim bezels (and possibly 18:9 aspect ratio), stock Android Pie (Android One) software with two years of promised updates and free unlimited storage with Google Photos, and Qi wireless charging. The phone is seen ditching a conventional fingerprint scanner in favour of an in-display fingerprint scanner. It is a little disappointing to see the phone rocking a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor though. It is further said to come with up to 6GB RAM and up to 128GB storage.
