OnePlus will launch the OnePlus 7 on May 14, according to serial tipster @ishanagarwal24. While a May launch isn’t surely surprising (the OnePlus 6 was launched in May 2018), it is the other half of the information shared by the tipster that is unique – and surprising. OnePlus is gearing to launch multiple OnePlus 7 phones, so much so that the tipster is calling it the OnePlus 7-series.

Rumour has it that the OnePlus 7 may have as many as three different models – a vanilla OnePlus 7, a more powerful OnePlus 7 Pro and a 5G-ready OnePlus 7 Pro. Considering that OnePlus has confirmed that it will be among the first OEMs to launch smartphones (yes, plural) powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor in India, it is very likely that the company may bring both the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro to India soon enough.

OnePlus is also planning to start 5G trials in India with Qualcomm – so it may also bring the OnePlus 7 Pro 5G to India at some point of time although it’s too early to comment on that right now.

OnePlus has been in the habit of launching two flagships a year – a standard and a T version. This is the first time we’re hearing of a Pro version from the company, and if true, it will surely be a first from the company – of course, it will also raise a doubt on the future of the OnePlus 7T.

OnePlus is looking to market the OnePlus 7 Pro with the tagline, go beyond speed. Considering how all OnePlus devices are marketed basis of their speed, it will be also be interesting to see what OnePlus has in store with the Pro down the line. Vanilla or Pro, the OnePlus 7 in all probability will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855.

Rumour mill has it that the OnePlus 7 will ship with a pop-up selfie camera – sort of like the one on the Vivo V15 Pro and Oppo F11 Pro. It is yet to be seen if both the versions share the same design, or if the Pro version will pack a different design scheme.
