OnePlus-McLaren partnership: What’s coming up in India on December 12

In what could be a good news for both OnePlus and F1 fans, OnePlus chief Pete Lau announced their partnership with McLaren, a British Formula One team. Although the result of this partnership is not known yet, a speculation has it that OnePlus is likely to unveil their special OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition. OnePlus India has hosted a new page on their website at oneplus.in/mclaren, suggesting that it’ll make a formal announcement on December 12. Here is what we know about it!

Ever since Pete announced that OnePlus is teaming up with McLaren, we have seen numerous report saying that OnePlus is likely to announce OnePlus 6T McLaren edition. Just a couple of weeks ago, the OnePlus 6T Thunder Purple Edition went up for sale with some discount offers. If these reports are indeed true, we might see OnePlus launch yet another special edition of OnePlus 6T smartphone in the Indian market.

As for another possibility, the OnePlus logo might be going up on the McLaren F1 sports car. If we take a closer look, a webpage hosted on the official OnePlus website reads “Salute to Speed,” alongside a video playing in the background. This video shows the orange McLaren F1 sports car in action! In the official announcement blog post, Pete uploaded a teaser image showing two orange borders forming up the shape of a racing track.

Some users speculated in the comments section saying that an unconfirmed OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition could feature an orange gradient design on the rear.

OnePlus 6T starts at Rs 37,999 for 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. Powering the handset is Qualcomm’s top-of-the-line Snapdragon 845 chipset coupled with Adreno 630 GPU for graphics. Inside is a 3,700mAh battery with fast charging support. It sports 6.41 inches 1080p screen with the in-display fingerprint reader. It still houses 16MP+20MP dual rear cameras and 16MP selfie camera.
